Bridgeman, chief officer, and Jones, steward of the ship Burbridge have been arrested in Liverpool on a charge of murdering Captain Little, on the voyage from Newcastle, New South Wales. SYDNEY, July 30. In connection with the arrest at Liverpool of the chief officer and steward of the ship Durbridge, for the murder of the captain, the particulars are as follow On August 8, 1892, the body of Captain Little was found in his cabin in the vessel, which had arrived at Newcastle a few days before in ballast from Eio. The chief witness at the icque|t was Jones, the chief steward, who that the captain's continued intemperance on the voyage out, and his despondency, had led him several times to attempt suicide, and that assisted by the chief officer he locked him in the cabin to prevent him destroying himselft When the body was found the matter was reported to the police, and at the inquest the jury returned a verdict of “ Suicide through mental trouble.”
