Michael Nobla, aged forty-throe, of Dobson, was driving in a spring cart with a boy named Diuan, aged eleven years, and while giving the,horse a drink on the edge of the shingle bank of the Grey River, below Oobden bridge, the horse and cart slipped into the fiver. Thera is a deep hole at the spot, and man, boy and horse were drowned. The bodies were found soon afterwards. The man leaves ajwife and seven children. Mrs Martin, an old resident of Dromore, met with a very painful accident on Saturday last. She was helping to harness a horse in the stable, when the horse became restive, and crushed her against the wall. She foil under the horse’s feet, and was trampled on, receiving some severe bruises. She is progressing favourably towards recovery. An accident happened to a railway employee, named M. Waters, at Lytteitou yesterday, by which he received a cut on the head. He was working in the tracks receiving coal from the steamer Dingadee, when he was knocked out of the truck by a baskec of coal. Mr K. Beetham and a jury, of which Mr J. T. Wood was chosen Eoicraan, conducted an enquiry yesterday afternoon, at Lyttelton, into the circumstances connected with the d-atli of Mary Hrlaui, wife of fetor Brian), who died at J.yl-tchon on Sunday. Prom the evidence of Mrs Mapple, a neighbour, it seems that on March 2, at 10 p.m,, the deceased had called her in and stated that she had accidentally set lira to her clothing and had been badly burned. Dr Pairman had been in attendance, but the deceased gradually sank, and died early on Sunday. A verdict of "Accidental death ” was returned.
