I * ~ i The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was held yesterday afternoon, in the City Council Library; present—Mr Charles Louiseon (Chairman), Mesdamee (Hacon, Hulbert, Gibbs, Kinsey, Milsom (and Mies Steele, the Very Rev the Dean, (Messrs Jekyll and S. D. Barker (Hon Sec), ‘An apology was received from his Worship jjfche Mayor for his nnavoidable absence. The Secretary reported as follows t—Dr. (Lomax Smith has decided to deliver a “lecture on "Quacks and Quackery,” on (Wednesday evening next, instead of f ‘ Rational Dress,” as previously announced. Correspondence has been received and answered as follows:—Grey(mouth Branch—From Mies Greenwood, ■'Hon See., reporting that sixteen women (had passed the first aid examination, (ks the examiner stated, >in an eminently ’(successful manner. (Certificates forwarded.) South Canterbury Branch, (Timaru—From Mrs Jones, Hon Sec,, ('reporting that thirty-two women had •passed the first aid examination. (Certificates sent.) From Mr W. Le Cocq, stating ;that it is improbable that they would be able to form a branch at Waiau, but would try. From Mr Holmesdean, asking ter instructions to form a branch at Napier, Attended to. Messrs 6. Hart and E. W. Seager had offered to giveitheir " Old Canterbury” entertainment in aid of the ambulance carriage fund. On the matter being fully discussed it was decided to accept tho offer with thanks. week (March 24) was named for the date, td tbe Oddfellows’ Hall for the place, if ailable. The tickets were fixed at 2s ? reserved seats. Is for the body of the skll and the gallery, and children halfmice. All other details were left to the fijhairman to arrange. The ambulance carriage fund at present amounts to £2l la 7d, and £BO is the amount required to nurchaee the vehicle desired. Bank balance m credit, £ll 6s 7d. Accounts were Hissed for payment amounting to £9 15s. This concluded the business.
