PRESENTATION TO MR M . HARRIS.

Yesterday evening a large number of tbe members of the Canterbury Hebrew Association assembled in tbe Synagogue to bid farewell to Mv Maurice Harris, who will shortly make an extended tour. Mr B. Baliin, who presided, referred to tbe excellent work Mr Harris had done during the thirty years he had been connected with the Hebrew congregation, and presented an address expressive of the esteem in which Mr Harris is held by the congregation. The address was beautifully illuminated, and bore the signatures of Messrs V. Harris (President), B. Baliin (Hon Secretary) and P. Metz (Treasurer). Mr Baliin read a telegram, from. M&iloss

Jonas, Timaru, wishing Mr Harris continued good health and a pleasant holiday. Messrs C. Louisson, M. Sandstein, R. Levoi, S. Myers, S. Phillips and others testified to the good work done by Mr Harris as President, Treasurer and Committeeman of the congregation. Mr Harris, who was greeted with hearty applause, briefly returned thanks. An adjournment was then made to the ante-room, where the Rev A. Chodowski proposed the health of Mr Harris, and Mr L. Cohen endorsed hia eulogistic remarks.- The address will be on view in Mr M. Sandstein’a shop, in Cashel street, for a few days.
