' ■ Thia Wa# an action in which Henry Stark' Drummond, of Sydenham, hotel* keeper, claimed damages .£750 from the Rev Leonard Monk Isitfc, editor, and Thomas Edward Fraser, printer of the frohtbiiianiit newspaper, on account of an alleged libel published therein. Tn« . Honor said that he understood it had been agreed to adjourn the case till Monday. Mr. Caygill said this was so ; the parties had Agreed.. Hiis Honor said that when the question of adjournment had been mentioned before him on the previous day, he had commented on the comparative lateness of the He had not, of course, blamed but thought that, considering that the prevalence of illness of a particular kind was well known, the reason for the adjournment might, to a certain extent, have-been expected. He felt that he had to consider the convenience of the gentlemen who had been summoned as jurors, and he thought that the proper course would be to impannel the Jury this morning, in order that those who were selected might be paid for the day, and that the others might he relieved from and that then the case should be adjourned. He understood that this arrangement had been accepted by the parties.- . 'MrCaygillreplied in the affirmative. Hie Honor said that he presumed that there' wjia -very small probability of a farther adjournment being applied for. Mr-Caygill said that there was very little probability of that. The,Special Jury was then impannelled, and-Mr^Thornhill Cooper was chosen Foreman. The Court then adjourned to 10.30 a.m. on Monday next. [Feb Peess Association-! AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. Amongst the witnesses examined to-day in the Bcott murder case was the chemist Powell, recently sentenced to ten years’ penal* aervitude. He deposed that he had ■old poison to Scott.
