The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s ship Nelson has been purchased by Mr John Park, of London, and Captain .Kelly, who is well known in Lyttelton as the master of the barque Wave Queen, has been promoted to take command of her. Captain Bannatyne, of the Nelson, who is also well known here, has received command of a new four-masted ship, sailing out of Greenock. The cargo steamer Duke of Buckingham left Port yesterday afternoon for Newcastle. She completes her loading at Australian ports for London, and has taken on board, at this port, some 3000 sacks of grain for the Home market. The American barquentine, Abiel Abbott, arrived ,in Port yesterday morning from Port .Chalmers, with part original cargo of merchandise from New York. She made a good run of sixteen hours from the southern port, having been favoured by a fresh southerly wind throughout the passage. The Abiel Abbott, which is not a stranger to this port, having been here some few years ago, is commanded by Captain Toolcer, who has made several voyages to New Zealand in charge of the barque Mary E. Greenwood. The cargo steamer Maori, of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s fleet, proceeded to sea yesterday afternoon for Lonvii Tenenffe. She does not call at Bio db Janeiro this voyage, and has taken sufficient coal to carry her through to Teneriffe. A quantity of this, in bags, was stowed upon the decks, and before the vessel was allowed to proceed to sea the authorities compelled the removal of some £0 or 60 tons to below hatches.
