KAIAPOI CLOTHING FACTORY.
ANNUAL PICNIC. The eleventh annual picnic of the employees of tho Ksiapoi Clothing Factory took place on Saturday in the grounds attached to Mr Knight’s accommodation house, Weka Pass. The weather was perfect. The train arrangements were all that could be desired, and the whole affair was a great success. The party, numbering over four hundred, left the Christchurch railway station ! at 8.25 a.m. in nine large American cars, accompanied by the Garrison Band. Weka Pass was reached at 11.30, and here the majority disembarked, a few going on to Waikari. The band took up a position in the grounds of the hotel, and contributed very much to tho afternoon’s enjoyment. Mr Bowbyes had thoughtfully arranged to have hot tea and boiling water ready on the arrival of the train, and a luncheon provided by Mr Knight was soon disposed of, after which games and dancing were indulged in, whilst some of the excursionists formed themselves into parties for exploring the valleys and hills, coming back laden with ferns and other mementoes of the trip.
