PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

fPsa Pbess Association. | AUCKLAND, Pkb. 11. In the Presbyterian Assembly a prolonged debate took place on the report relative to the training of students, strong objection being taken to a recommendation from the Christchurch Presbytery that greater prominence should bo given to the employment of lay missionaries. No decision could be arrived at, and the report was eventually shelved by a motion that it be received. Dissatisfaction was expressed that a, larger number of ministers did not take advantage of the widows and orphans and aged and infirm ministtrs’ f unds. A resolution was passed instructing the Committee to consider the desirability of incorporating both funds.
