PRIZE DISTRIBUTIONS.

OPAWA SCHOOL. Mr Edward Curry, Chairman of the Opawa School Committee, attended on Wednesday afternoon to bestow the prizes on those pupils who had qualified for them during the year. Through the liberal response to Mr Riordan's appeal for subscriptions in aid of the prize fund, it has this year been possible to reward merit as well as attendance. Before the formal distribution of prizes was proceeded with, the senior Sixth Standard boy. Master G. Wood, on behalf of the staff and pupils, asked their old friend Mr F. Riordan to accept a silver matchbox, together with a handsome walking-stick suitably inscribed, as a token that his leng and valuable services had received grateful recognition. Mr Riordan, who had been taken by surprise, cordially.thanked his friends.
