The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Melbourne* writing under date Dec. 15, reports as follows The collapse in the wheat marked although expected, was rather premature. . This was owing principally to <i&e..£aofc that whatever wheat was available was rushed down and forced on a weak 'Wpekot in hopes of obtaining the then oonnMpit --■ values. The highest quotation, aadwhlch is only nominal, for pew to-day is 4s(kl* and prime old about 4a 9d. In feed stuffs nothing whatever is doing. Oats are* almost unsaleable, consequently toeffect sales lower values' have to be accepted. Milling oats have no sales, therefore #e " can hardly quote with accuracy. Komi* / nally, their value is from 2a 7d to 8* &d» and for good stoat feed 2s 54 is now--accepted. There is a little inquiry from ’ the neighbouring Colony for small lotf of New Zealand oats in bond, bat, there > orders have been unfilled, as no Kew Zealand oats are at present available.
