Mails close for the following places, as under, subject to the necessary alterations!—

Wednesday, Dec. 23. For Northern Porta and Australian Colonies per Tekapo, at 12.30 p.m.; lata fee letters, 12.45 p.m.; guard’s van, 1.25 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Mangana, at 4.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.80 p.m. train. For Westport (direct), per Kawatiri, at 4.20 p.m.; late fee letters 4.85 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.30 p.m. train. Thursday, Dec. 24, For Northern Ports, per Takapuna, at 4.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 4,35 p.m.; parcels, 3.50 p.m.: guard’s van, 5.30 p.m. train. Saturday, Dee. 26. For South America, United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed correspondence only), per s.s. Aorangi, at 7 a.m.; guard's van 8.55 a.m. train. Eegistered letters and parcels at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24. Wednesday, Deo. 30. For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe and America and West Indies (vifl. San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, &c. &0., and also for Northern Porta of New Zealand, per Takapuna, as follows : Ordinary letters, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; books and newspapers, 7.30 p.m.; registered letters, 5 p.m,; money orders, 4 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.5 p.m. train. This mail will bo due in London on Feb. 3, 1892, For Chatham Islands, per Kahu, at 8 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.5 p.m, train. On Christmas Day all branches of the Post Office will bo closed. The office will he open from 9.15 to 10,15 on the night of Thursday, Deo. 24, for counter delivery of letters usually taken out by letter carriers. As no trains will run on Christmas Day on the north line of railway or on the branches, mails usually despatched to offices on these lines on Friday will close as follow on Thursday, Dec. 24;—North line, Oxford and Byreton branches, 4 p.m.; Springfield, Whitecliffs and Southbridge branches, 2.45 p.m.; Greymouth, Hokitika, Kumara, Beefton, &0., 2.45 p.m.; all other Friday mails, 8 p.m. On Boxing Day, Saturday, Deo. 26, all branches of the Post Office will open from 9 to 10 a.m., and the usual despatch of mails will be made up to 10 a.m.
