FOOTBALL.
The Canterbury representative team met at Warner’s Hotel last evening, and unanimously elected Mr J. S. Hawkos captain. After discussing matters in connection with next Saturday’s match, it was decided to hold practices this evening and Thursday, at 6 o’clock, on tho North Park, and to meet at Wilkin’s rooms on Wednesday evening at eight o’clock. [Pee Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Sept. 7. The Auckland football representatives left for the South this afternoon by the Mahinapua. Besides the fifteen who played against the Thames on Saturday T. Boberts, F. Murray and A. Tanfield went as emergencies. Mr G. Dixon, tho popular Secretary of the Eugby Union, also accompanied the team as manager. Mr A. Braund has been elected captain, and Messrs G. Dixon, H. Polland and A. Braund will select tho fifteen for each game. A largo crowd was at tho Auckland railway station to wish tho men hon voyage. DUNEDIN, Sept. 7. Tho Kugby Union Committee met today and decided to play exactly tho samo team as against Southland, namely■ Full-back, Green fell; three-quarter-backs, Laareusoa, Downes, Lang; half-backs. Gran and Crawfurd; forwards. Beadle, Drabble, Hanning, Isaacs, Johnstone, Montgomery (capt ), Mathicaon, M’Cleary, and Torrance.
