ZEALANDIA SILVER MINING COMPANY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, Will you kindly permit we, through the medium of your paper, to fulfil a duty to the Canterbury shareholders in the Zealandia Mining Company ? I have personal y inspected the Company’s claim, and ca fully endorse the opinions already expressed by others as to the evidences or valuable lodes thereon. 1 have also seen many of the proved claims on the ueid, and from what I have seen I_am rully satisfied with our prospects. We have a good pack track past the claim, ana there will be no difficulties in communication as the country is opened out, which is being rapidly done. What I conceive to he of the utmost importance to New Zealand investors is the working of the No Liability Act. Registers are kept or all shares as issued and scrip numbered. There being no liability on the B “® re ®> ‘ffi 0 Company is not interested as to who holds them. There being no stamp duty, very few transfers are registered. The scrip, when once endorsed and witnessed (the buyer’s name in blank) is transferable like a bank note. When dividends are payable the last holder can then register his_ transfer. According to regulations, notices of calls are sent to each shareholder as registered and advertised in Hobart. By arrangement, all calls in the Colony are payable on the second Wednesday in each month, a list being published in Hobart. If not paid within fourteen days, shares are forfeited, the proceeds in excess of the call being paid to the shareholder. Ibis therefore desirable to have an agent to watch one’s interests. Calls are usually about one penny per share. However, no calls are likely to be made in our case for a long time to come.—l am, &c., W. H. GUNDRY, Legal Manager. Zeehan, July 31,1891.
