MARKET REPORTS.

There was an excellent attendance at the Rangiora market yesterday. Mr W. Buss had an entry at his yards of 2000, sheep, 50 head of cattle, and 140 pigs. The fat sheep yarded were not of first-class quality. The following ‘ prices were realised;—Fat cross-bred ewes, lls to 12s 6d; fat two-toofch cross-breds, mixed ewes and wethers, 14s to 15s; fat merino ewes, 7s 3d to 8s; cress-bred hoggets, 10s to lls; cross-bred ewes in lamb, lls to 12sj merino ewes in lamb, 5s 6d to 6s. CattleBeef, equal to 18s per lOOlbs; milch cows,* ,£3 to £5. Pigs—Porkers, 14s to 255;; haconers, 35s to 455; good'young stores, 10s to 14s; small pigs, 7s to 8a; weanera sato 6s. In the produce yards—Cross-bred sheepskins 3s to 5s 6d; merinos, 2s to 4a 6d ; hides all cleared at full market rates; calfskins. Is; rough fat, lid, rendered 2d; wool in' bags, 5d to 7d; locks, 2d; fowls, hens, Is 3d to Is 9d per pair; roosters, 2s to Ss j ducks, 3s 6d to 4s; turkeys, hens, lls per pair; roosters, 10s each; chickwheat, 2a 6dto3s 3d,bushel; oats. Is 5d to la9dj barley, 2s 4d; beans, 2s 8d; peas, handthreshed Prussian Blues, 3a 3d; partridge peas, 3s; ryegrass seed, 4a to 5s per : bushel; cocksfoot, 4d to 5d lb; potatoes. Is 6d to 2s 3d per bag; carrots, Is 6d to Is 9d; parsnips, 4s; onions, Jd per lb; meal, 4s to 6s bag; sharps, 5s 6d; bran, 3s; flour, 21s sack; timber, 6s 6d.

At the Ashburton yards on Tuesday between four and five thousand sheep were yarded. The general quality was not as good as last week’s, but prices were about the same. The attendance was good and the sale was brisk tbroughoqt. < The following are the prices realised Pat Sheep, —Fat cross-bred wethers 14s 7d, IBs to 16s j fat cross-bred ewes 7s 9d, 10a, Us, 12s to' 14s lOd; merino wethers—a line of 125 Anama wethers, grand sheep, sold at 13s 7d ; others, not such good quality, brought 8s Id, 9a 7d, 10a 9d to 12a 7d; merino' ewes 7a 9d, 10s, lls, 12a. Store Sheep.— Cross-bred ewes in lamb—two lines of about 200 each of very-fine two and four-tooth ewes, in famb to English Leibester 'rams, went as high as 14s 6d and 14s lOd respectively ; cross-bred ewes in lamb 10a7d,.10s Od; merino do 5s 9d; hoggets Bs.3d, lit to 12a Id. Cattle;—There; was, a fair entry of cattle, but the: competition waa not so keen as last week’s. Fat heifers sold at £2 10a to £5, fat cows ait £5 12s 6d. fat steers at £4 15s, store cows from£l 10s to £3 sa, springers £4 to £6. Thera were no young stores in the yard and very few pigs.

Mr John G. Rbbtkll reports on tha weekly sale held at his Arcade and Horae Bazaar, Ashburton, on Saturday (Mr P. M. Rickman, auctioneer):—About fifty horses were entered for sale, but the greater portion of them were very inferior in all the; classes. For good horses of all descriptions there is a ready sale. Bub just at this season of the year when feed is scarce, inferior and aged horses are not in great demand. Good, sound young draught horses, with a trial, sold up to £2O; inferior and aged draught horses from £4 to £10; good young sound hacks and light harness horses sold up to £ls. Inferior hacks, weeds and screws sold from £1 to £3. The attendance of the public was large throughout the day.
