ROAD BOARDS.
MANDEYILLE AND RANGIOEA. The monthly meeting of the Mandevillo and Rangiora Road Board was held on Friday; present —Mr M. Macfarlano (Chairman), and Messrs R. Leggett, J. Stalker and G. Wallace.—The matter of a drain at Dench’s corner was referred to the Surveyor. another floodgate at drain on Mr Campbell’s road.—A tender for a footpath on North road, near Kaiapoi, was accepted at 14s per chain; Is per yard for clay, and 2s 6d for ditch.—lt was decided to carry out a footpath formation to the Rangiora Domain, on condition that the Borough Council provided the grit.—lt was decided to inform Mr Eevell that ho would have to erect a swing gate in the fence by the gravel pit on Camside road.—lt was decided to pay half the cost of No. 7 drain, and forward £5 to the River Board as a grant towards clearing the Cam.—Mr J. King asked for a refund of certain costs, but the request was declined.—An application from Messrs C. Leech, and H. and D. Mehrtens to have willows removed from the Cam near their property was referred to the Chairman.— Mr Unwin was authorised to collect the Dog tax. —Notice was given of the Board’s intention to strike a general rate of fiveeighths of a penny in the pound, and a halfpenny in the pound as drainage rate. Accounts amounting to £lB6 7s 5d were passed for payment. MOUNT HUTT. The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Thursday, when all the members were present.—lt was resolved to ask the Ashburton County Council to send a deputation to meet the Board at the Eakaia Gorge cutting, so that it might be represented to the Council that it is impossible for the Board to keep the present cutting in order.—Some new work was ordered to be put in hand, and accounts amounting to £lO3 4s lOd were passed for payment. MOUNT SOMERS. The usual monthly meeting of the Mount Somers Road Board was held on July 6; present —Mr Peache (Chairman) and Messrs M’Millan, Syme and Chapman. The Overseer’s report was read, and a conBiderable amount of new work ordered to be done. Several deputations waited upon the Board and received satisfactory replies. A number of letters were answered. Mr Chapman gave notice of motion that a rate of id in tho £ bo struck for the rear ending March 31, 1892. Accounts amounting to £4B 7s 4d were passed for payment.
