CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, June 23, (Before R. Beetham, Esq., S.M.) Civil Cases. —Farmers’ Union Grain, Produce and Finance Company v. Mason, £3 15s; judgment for plaintiff by default. —Executors late B. Button’s estate v. Landergan, claim £4 9s 6d for work done. Defendant produced some receipts, and judgment was given for plaintiff for 7s Gd and costs. SODTHBRIDGE. Tuesday, June 23. (Before E. B. Willis and L. Mathias, Esqs.) Supplying a Prohibited Person.— William Winter was charged under Section 169 of " The- Licensing Act, 1881,” with having procured a bottle of beer for George Murdock, of Southbridge, a prohibited person. After hearing the evidence of Mr J. T. Murdock,- Mrs Murdock and Constable Warring, the Bench considered the case clearly proved and fined the accused £5 and costs 13s. The accused asked to be allowed time to pay the fine. The Bench granted one month. The Bench strictly cautioned the accused and people present against giving prohibited persons liquor. RANGIORA. ' Tuesday, Junk 23. (Before E. K. Good and J. L. Wilson, Esqs.) .Civil Cases. —W. 801 l v. H. Topp, claim 6s; Mr Wynn-Williams for defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff for amount claimed but, it having been proved that he did not make a proper demand for payment, costs were not allowed.—T. Powell v. H. Topp, claim 6a ; Mr Wynn-Williams for defendant. The claim in this and the previous case was for work done in stacking potatoes. The defence was that the men did the work in lieu of loading the potatoes, the latter being included in the digging contract. Judgment for the plaintiff for 4s and costs. —J. Sansom v. A. Jury, claim £2 ss; judgment summons; ordered to be paid at the rate of 2s 6d per week, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.—Judgment by default was given in the following cases: —Mrs Chestermain v. C, Magiunio, £1 Ss lid; J. R, Parker v. W. Uru, £2 ss; and T. White v. H. Willis, 10s lid.
