TRAIN ALTERATIONS.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—l notice that the Railway Commissioners propose (now the winter is here) starting the Malvern line train at 4.30 p.m., instead of 3.45 p.m., as it is now. If this means daily, I think a large proportion of the public will be very much dissatisfied with the alteration. The majority of our travelling public can do ail their business in Christchurch long before the present starting time, and_ are glad enough to get home again, especially now the days are short. There will probably be no objection to the proposed alteration on Wednesdays, which would suit the stock-owners from the country; but as the people on the Ellesmere line are suited by leaving Christchurch at 3.53 p.m., I do not see the. necessity for the alteration.—l am, &c., TRAVELLER. Kirwee, May 80.
