The Congress at Ballarat have resolved to demand, on behalf of wage earners affected and threatened, the immediate enactment hy the various Parliaments of remedial legislation to cover the performance of all factory work in registered factories, the institution of a full lien upon wages due upon all work done, and the abolition of the contract system for Government work. THE QUEENSLAND SHEARERS. BRISBANE, April 25. A number of Unionists at Rockhampton, who were indicted on a charge of rioting, and found not guilty, are now being tried for conspiracy. Twelve Unionists were arrested at Barcaldine yesterday for rioting. AMALGAMATED LABOUR UNION. The members of the amalgamated Labour Union hold a meeting at the Temperance Hall, Gloucester street, on Saturday night. There was a large attendance. The minutes and correspondence being disposed off, it was decided to hold an adjourned meeting on Saturday naxbfor the purpose of receiving the balancesheet, &c. The School Committee election was also discussed, and the advisability of all the members giving a block vote for the labour candidates on Monday was strongly advocated. Other matters of minor import being dealt with, the meeting was closed in due form by the President. LYTTELTON UNEMPLOYED. During Saturday a petition was being signed in Lyttelton asking the Government to endeavour to take certain steps whereby the old railway hands at Lyttelton might he afforded opportunity to get work in Port. His Worship the Mayor of Lyttelton, Mr J. B. Milsom, very kindly undertook to proceed to Wellington to present the petition to the Government. For this purpose he left Lyttelton on Saturday night in the Penguin. . _
