WRESTLING.
' CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. [Pea PBKSfI ASSOCIATION-.] DUNEDIN, Oct. 28. A -wrestling match took place at the Princess Theatre this evening between D. C. Ross, champion of America, and Barry Dunn, champion of Australia. The match was for J 230 a side and the championship of thd world in five styles. Boss bad the advantage of about 2at in weight over‘ Dunn, but did not appear so fit. The first styla'waa the American side-hold, and in fjiain Dunn back-heeled Eosa and secured a fall. The second was the GrrocoEoman. Boss made nearly all the play, and (.finally got on the French hook, and, despite all Dunn’s activity, the tall was secured by Bess. The third style* , was . collar and elbow. In five miniates, just as Dunn was getting on a flying mare. Boss let go his hold to save himself, and the fall was given against him. This'Jhe protested against at a later stage. The fourth stylo was catch-as-catch-can, and resolved itself eventually into a contest in the Greco-Roman style, with both men on the ground, and resulted in favour of R6es, who again got on a half Nelson, followed* by a leg-look, and secured the foil The deciding bout was the Cornish and Devonshire style, and there was great interest taken in it. After some sparring to get hold, Dunn slipped into his favourite Cumberland hold, and at once had Boas in difficulties, the American champion going down almost immediately. Dunn thus won the match. Messrs J. M'Donald and A. Owen were the .Umpires, and Hr John Ogg the Referee. Boss afterwards offered to double the stakes and wrestle Dunn again. The latter said he would accept the challenge if the match were in private, and this was agreed to.
