[Pan Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 4; Crushing is still proceeding at the Try Fluke battery in the new Kuaotunu goldfield. Last week’s yield was 171 oz for 40 tons, making 3020 z for 60 to 70 loads for the fortnight. At the Bay of Islands Coal Company’s meeting to-day no dividend was declared. The sales of coal for the half year were 12,819 tons, being an increase of 1877 tons. INVERCARGILL, August 4. A cable message from London announces that the Wakapatu Sludge Channel Company has been floated. The channel extends from the Beach, Colac Bay, Riverton, to the Roundhill diggings, and having been the outlet for the whole sludge of the district for years, and the methods of saving gold being very imperfect, it is believed to contain a large quantity of the metal. The floating of the Company was E laced in the hands of Miss Alice Cornwall, ut the promoters sent one of their number Home recently.
