PROPERTY SALE.

At 12.30 p.m. on Saturday Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited), offered several landed properties in the estate of the late Eev T. K. Fisher, situated in the city and suburbs, for sale by auction. Mr J. T. Matson acted as auctioneer in his usual efficient manner. The first property offered was Sudeley Farm, in the Ellesmere district. The auction room was crowded when the sale began, and bidding was fairly brisk. The leasehold of 97 acres farm land, expiring 1893, was sold to Mrs Letitia Miller, of Irwell, for .£3O. Mr Matson then passed on to the freeholds at Sudeley, which were disposed of as follows:—Lot 1, 26 acres in grass fell to Mr John Stevens, at £26 per acre ; lot 2, 35 acres in grass, Mr James Doak, at £27 per acre; lots 3 and 4 were passed In, and the auctioneer then put up these and the whole of the remaining lots comprising 746 a 3r 20p, more or less,'with the homestead and farm buildings, in . one line. .£2O an acre started the bidding, which ran up by 10s bids to <£22 10sj at which figure Lots 3 to 8 inclusive fell to Mr W. M'Millan, of Corwar. The sale, was effected amidst considerable applause from the audience. The town lots were then offered, commencing with the block known as Fisher’s Corner, which was passed in at £12,000. All Mr Matson’s eloquence could not persuade buyers to go over the owner’s reserve with regard to any of the town sections, all of which were passed in. The total amount realised by the sale was £18,083 16s. The whole of the Eakaia Island property, comprising 754 acres freehold and 1200 acres of leasehold land, the property of Mr L. Mathias was offered, but did not reach owner’s reserve. An acre of land, with house, adjoining the school at Fendalton, was also passed in.
