BICYCLE TOURING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Bicycle Touring Club was held at their rooms, Morten’s Buildings, last evening. There was a large attendance, and the chair was occupied by Mr A. Foster, Captain of the Club. The Secretary, Mr F. N. Adams, read the annual report of the Committee, which stated that the receipts from all sources during the year amounted to £4O Is 6d, which had all been expended. The Club had acquired a quantity of useful furniture and there was a balance of assets over liabilities of £3O 15s. Eighty - three members had paid their subscriptions for the past year. In order to meet the increased expenditure of having rooms in the city it was proposed to raise the subscription to 10s a year. The Club’s expenses were estimated at £35 a year. The Committee specially thanked Dr J. H. Townend, Messrs W. R. Cooke, J. L. Penerty and H. Toomer for their generous donations to the funds of the Club. The tournament held in connection with tbe Club in the Palace Rink had been a pronounced success. The Committee complained that touring had not been properly kept up, and the attendance at the runs had been meagre. They suggested the appointment of a Touring Committee. Messrs Clarkson Bros,, Fitzhenry, Malthus, Williams, Wheeler, Bate and Truman were the members who had severally made fair records on the racing Hack. The gold medals for road racing had been won by E. P. Clarkson (50 miles), E. Fitzhenry (25 miles), F. N. Adams (10 miles), and F. Truman (5 miles). A Morris-tube range had been provided, and was much appreciated by the members; and a dancing class had also been established. Thanks were accorded to Messrs E. Adams and W. E. Thompson for gifts of furniture. The Committee concluded by urging members to pay their subscriptions at once, and thus support the Club, which was now well established. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Eight new members were elected.The following gentlemen were appointed officers for the ensuing year; —Patron, Mr W. E. Cooke; President, Mr J. L. Fenerty; Vice-Presidents, Drs J. H. Townend and Robinson, Messrs E. Thompson, H. Jekyll, E. George, and W. H. Cooper; Captain, Mr W. E. Ayrey; Suh-Captain, Mr J. Forbes; Secretary, Mr W. Thompson; Assistant-Secretary, Mr A. Thomas; Treasurer, Mr W. G. Williams; Committee, Messrs H. Baker, A. Walshaw, E. Clarkson, G. Clarke, and F. Pannell; Auditors, Messrs G. Ardley and T. Banks; Bugler, Mr R. W. Thompson. It was resolved that the subscriptions should he 12s fid a year, honorary members 15s a year, with 2s fid nomination fee in each case. After some routine business the meeting adjourned till Tuesday evening next.
