SYDENHAM RIFLE VOLUNTEERS.

PEESENTATION OP PRIZES. The prizes won by the Sydenham Rifle Volunteers during the past season were presented in the orderley-room on Wednesday evening last. The room-was prettily decorated with flowers and evergreens, and there was a full attendance of members. His Worship the Mayor of Sydendammade the presentations. The prizes numbered twenty-five, amongst which were several good trophies. The winners were Major Joyce’s trophy (silver watch and chain). Private Bourd6t; trophy presented by an ex-member of the corps! (a handsome oak cup mounted in silver), Corporal Osborne; Messrs Reece and Sons’ trophy (cake basket). Corporal Collins; Captain Coxon’s trophy (serviceable table

lamp), Colour-Sergeant Price; Captain Anderson’s trophy. Corporal Board ; Hon Surgeon Anderson’s trophy. Corporal Grey; the Mayor of Sydenham’s trophy (a splendid silver cup). Sergeant Teape ; Mr E. M. Taylor, M.H.E.’s trophy (silver cruet). Sergeant Hunt. A number of prizes, presented by the corps, were won and received as follow :—First grade—Sergeant Hunt, 1; Private Bourdofc, 2; ColourSergeant, Price, 3; Corporal Collins, 4; Private W. Osborne, 5; Private Eastwood, 6; Corporal Grey, 7; Corporal Osborne, 8; Corporal Board, 9. Second grade—Private Etheridge, 1; Private Parker, 2 ; Private J. Gunnion, 3. Eange prizes were also presented to Sergeant Hunt, Corporal Grey, Private Bourdofc, Colour-Sergeant Price and Corporal Collins. Subsequently a social gathering was held, at which the toasts of ths “ Queen,” “ Army and Navy,” and “ Success to the Sydenham Eifle Corps,” were duly honoured, and the evening was made harmonious by several good songs being given by members of the corps.
