WEST LYTTELTON CHURCH.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —For the past year or so there has been considerable dissatisfaction in matters connected with the West Lyttelton Church, and as I am accused of being the sole cause of such, 1 have deemed it necessary that 1 should endeavour to dispel such an idea from the minds of those so misinformed. I had for some time hoped the accusation had died out, but not so, as it is only a few days since I was informed that it was still asserted I am to blamo for all the trouble. Now I most emphatically deny that I am in any way responsible for the past or present unsatisfactory condition of the parish. I believe that I am correct in saying that ninety-five per cent of the people of Lyttelton are perfectly well aware of that fact, and I challenge any enquiry to prove to the contrary. I do not mind bearing my own burden, but I have a great objection to the sins of another being heaped upon my unfortunate shoulders in such a manner. I have no doubt some of my friends will say it would be better to take no notice of such statements, but knowing many other falsehoods of a like character have been circulated concerning myself, I think it time to defend myself against such gross injustice. —I am, &c., C. BROWNING. Lyttelton, April 2G.
