THE BISHOPRIC OF CHRISTCHURCH.
The following is the enacting clause of the statute confirming the appointment of Archdeacon Julius to the See of Christchurch, the preamble setting forth the fact that it is expedient to remove doubts, &c. “ Be it therefore resolved by the Bishops, Clergy, and Laity of the Church of the Province of New Zealand, commonly called the Church of England, m General Synod assembled, as follows; — " (1) The nomination and election of the said Churchill Julius to be Bishop of the diocese of Christchurch in the place of the Most Eeverend Henry John Chitty Harper, whose resignation of the Bishopric of the said diocese took effect on the Slat day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety, is hereby validated, sanctioned, and confirmed.”
