He proceeded to the palace in the morning, and informed the Emperor, in the presence of his family, that he was ? deposed. Dom Pedro received the intelligence with composure, and within an' hour he and his family were placed on board a mail steamer, which: took its departure for Lisbon. A Brazilian war vessel escorted the mail steamer to sea. Brazilian stock has declined seven per-cent in the London market. Government presented Don Pedro, on 'his leaving, wit]' the sum of ■££7o,ooo, and agreed . o allow Mm a pension of .£BO,OOO per annum. The usual allowances to the Emperor’s family are to be continued. Censors prevent the Press publishing the truth as to the revolt; but there is an impression abroad that it was owing to the favour shown by the Emperor to the priests.
