SYDENHAM POULTRY SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. The eighth annual meeting of this Society was held last night in the Sydenham Hotel. There was a good attendance, Mr C. Heath in the chair. The Secretary read a report of the proceedings of the year, dealing at length with the success which had attended the Shows. The Committee had been able to pay off the balance of debt on the pens, which were insured in the sum of £75. It was evident that the accommodation at the Oddfellows’ Hall was inadequate to the requirements of the Exhibitions. The Treasurer’s report showed receipts £265 43, of which £lO2 12s had resulted from the sale of art union tickets, entries £9l 16s Gii. The expenditure was £238 8s 2d, leaving a balance of £26 16s 4d, besides outstanding items due £4 17s. The prizes paid out amounted to £127 19s 6d. The statement of accounts and annual report were adopted, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr E. Jones for auditing the accounts. It was suggested to the Committee to increase the Secretary’s honorarium next year. The election of officers resulted as follows :—Pa'.ron, Mr W. White; YicePatrons, as last year; President, Mr W. Koece; Vice-Presidents, Messrs R. M. Taylor, M.H.K., and C. Leal; Hon Treasurer, Mr Ambrose Johnstone; Hon Secretary, Mr C. Johnstone (both re-elected); Committee Messrs Clarke, Donaldson, Good, Wilson, Dacre, M'Lean, Adams, Beattie, Robins, Holt, Austin, and Beck.

Votes of thanks were accorded to the members of the outgoing Committee and officers, and to Mr C. Johnstone Secretary. An additional honorarium of five guineas was voted to Mr Johnstone with acclamation. A similar amount was voted to Mr Ambrose Johnstone. This concluded the business of the general meeting, and the Committee then dealt with several matters and adjourned.
