News has been received of the burning of the steamer Snmatra in the Mediterranean Sea, The steamer was bound to Hongkong with a cargo of petroleum, The Ostend - Hover mail boat, while crossing the Straits, collided with a Belgian steamer, and was blown up. Fourteen passengers were drowned. Victor Bonaparte was rescued. The boilers of the mail steamer exploded after the collision. [Received April X, at I.SO a.m.] NEW TOBK, March 69. Information has been received that the American barque Albert Russell, 724 tons, which left New York for Queensland on Feb. JO, foundered { and only two of the crew survived.
