ROAD BOARDS.
SPESTDON. The ordinary meeting was held on Thursday; present —Messrs Dowxe (Chairman), Stephens, Elliot, and Froggatt. Correspondence was read from Eiccarton Eoad Board (in reply) re culvert at end of Edenbridge street. Consideration deferred.—From Sydenham Borough Council, re Jerrold street, stating, that the next meeting of the Council would be held on Jan. 7.—Eesolved that the Chairman and Mr Eroggatt be requested to attend the meeting on Jan. 21 with reference to the above. From Christchurch Drainage Board, stating that as some doubt existed as to the legality of the delegation from their Board to this Board, of its powers as a Board of Health, they enclosed copy of fresh resolution.—Prom Mr Fisher, forwarding copy of three resolutions passed at a public meeting of ratepayers held at Ashbourne in reference to matters connected with the Drainage Board. Eeceived and ordered to bo laid on the table, —From Selwyn County Council, re this Board’s liability with reference to certain roads. Consideration deferred till next meeting.—The Chairman was requested to pay Messrs Harman and Stevens the balance of purchase money for Board’s gravel pit.—Eesolved —" That tenders be called, returnable next Board day, for carting shingle on to rOads on E.S. 76 ; also for repairs to culverts on same roads. —Accounts amounting to .£3O 17s 6d, as per pay-sheet were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned. POET VICTOEIA. A meeting of this Board was held at Teddington on Jan. 8; present—Messrs Tapley, Fitton, Anderson, and Bradley.— The Chairman reported that Messrs Bloor and Jennings had satisfactorily completed their contract. Mr Fitton reported that Wallace had finished his contract for clearing the gorse from the road running through the Ohinatahi property.—With regard to Simpson’s unfinished contract it was resolved—" That he he allowed till Feb. 20; should the work not he done by that date men to be put on by the Board.” It was resolved—" That the Board appoint a Eanger, details to be left to the Chairman.”—Tho Board decided to send a notice to the Cashmere Estate to clear the gorse from both Upper and Lower roads. Dyer’s Pass.—Mr Gray, not having cleared gorse, it was resolved —" That a week’s notice be given.”—The Board decided to have the drain below Eden’s bridge opened out.— Eesolved—“That the Board meet at 7 p.m. for the future.” Accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
