RIFLE MATCH.

CHRISTCHURCH RIFLE CLUB. The Christchurch Rifle Club and the Reserve Corps tried conclusions on the CluVa range yesterday forenoon, when the Club won a very pleasant match by the handsome majority of 94 points. The Club fired with Snider Rifles and the Reserve Corps with Remington-Lee Rifles. The match had been looked to as a test between these weapons, but if the test was a fair one, the new rifle certainly suffered rather severely. The members of the Reserve Corps have, however, scarcely had time to get acquainted with their now weapon, so that the scores made were really no indication of its shooting powers. With a little more practice, no doubt the veterans will cause the rifle to give a better account of itself. The shooting made on both aides was very poor, Messrs Dougall and Bashford being the only ones who made respectable scores. The light was extremely changeable throughout the day and accounts for the poor shooting. The ranges were:—2ooyds, BOOyds, and 500yds, seven shots at each; Wimbledon targets.
