INCITING TO ARSON.

At the Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before E. Bettbam. Esq., E.M., and H. .T. Hall, Esq., Charles Christian Sommers, who was arrested on a warrant on the previous day, waa charged on a second information with maliciously inciting Thomas Frederick Farley, stationer, of Ashburton, to set fire to his shop situated in South road, Timaru, with intent to defraud, on April 23. Inspector Pender asked for a remand, as the principal witness, Mr Farley, was at Oamaru. Mr Stringer, for Mr Wilding, offered no objection, but asked for bail. Mr Beetham, considering that the accused had already been committed in a similar charge in connection with a shop in Colombo street, fixed the bail for Sommers himself in £4OO, and two sureties of £2OO last, being double the amount of the previous hail. The accused was then remanded until Monday. •
