ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN. The ordinary meeting of this Board was held on April 4; present—Messrs R. Aiken, J. W. Overton, John Sharp, and Thomas Alsop.—ln the absence of the Chairman (who had to attend the Supreme Court), Mr Overton was voted to the chair.—Mr Watson interviewed the Board, and offered to contribute half the labour of enlarging a culvert on Ladbrooke’s road. Agreed to. —Mr Watson wanted a culvert on the Ellesmere road lowered on the same terms. This the Board declined, as no public benefit was derived from the work.—Mr J. Campion was present, and asked the Board to cut a drain from White’s and Leadley’s road through the gully in his section. Declined on the same ground as the former application.—Correspondence was read from the Government re subsidy.—Prom Mr William Benington, asking permission to take water from the race along the roadside ditch and through the pipe culvert on to his land. Granted, provided he first obtain permission from Mr Davies to take the water from the race.—From Mr P, Sinclair re meeting at Mr Deacon’s office, Christchurch, on April 16, re amendments in the Acts affecting Road Boards. The Clerk to see Chairman re same.—Prom Mr E. Rainey, asking that some slips in the roadside drain fronting his land be seen to, and the drain shovelled out. Agreed to.— Mr Teigue’s contract : Resolved that Messrs Peryman and Sharp have full power to deal with the work if not completed within the extended time. —The following tenders were accepted: Widening Minchin's Creek, two sections, John Michael; widening Blackler’s drain, two sections, John Walsh; widening Townshend’s drain, two sections, James Payne; cleaning a portion of Blackler’s drain, William Walsh.—Mr Aiken proposed, and Mr Sharp seconded —"That notice be given of the Board’s intention to levy a general rate of one half-penny in the £ on the rateable property in the district for the current year.”—The meeting then adjourned. '
