Cross actions for assault hesween. Sutton, a bookmaker, and Lord Deerhurst, one of Sir H. Loch’s aides-de-camp, were tried on March 10, at the Melbourne Police Court, before a large Bench of Magistrates, Mr Panton, 8.M., presiding. The case arose from betting transactions. Sutton’s action was dismissed. Suttop, who intended starting by the mail steamer to-day for Europe, was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment. The decision excited much eurprue, . > >
