ATHLETIC.
The 150 yards race between Malone and Samuels, Malone conceding a half-yard in every 50yds, for .£IOO a-side was decided on Feb. 7. A fine start was effected. Before going far, however, Samuels slightly stumbled, but quickly recovered himself. At about 70yds Malone drew up level with Samuels, but the latter had now begun to get into his full running, and quickly forged ahead. At 30yds from home Malone was hopelessly beaten, and Samuels came in an easy winner by three yards amidst frantic cheering. Malone seemed surprised at the way his opponent ran the last 50yds, and the Irishman did not finish in his customary determined style. Mr Norris took the time 15sec, and Mr Hewitt 15 1-10 sec.' Samuels could have finished a couple of yards quicker*
