QUEENSLAND.

At the Magisterial enquiry into the drowning of two seamen while attempting to get off the steamer Barrabool, which went ashore in the late flood, the conduct of the captain and the first officer was strongly condemned as closely approachifig criminal negligence. The proprietors of the Brisbance Telegraph were fined £IOO for inserting an advertisement : “ Lost, black and tan terrier. Finder handsomely rewarded. No questions asked,” thereby advertising an offer to compound a felony. By a tremendous hurricane at Burketown, all the buildings and places were damaged, and several lives were lost. The river rose 14ft. Several business firms are irretrievably ruined.
