WELLINGTON REGATTA.

[Pbb Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 19. The remaining events of the Star Club's Regatta were rowed this afternoon. The wind was fresh from the south, east, and the course from Point Jerningham to a point near the Gasworks. The afternoon's amusement was marred by an unfortunate accident in the Senior Pours referred to below, which resulted in some considerable delay, and it was almost dark when the last two races were got off. The following are the results : SENIOR FOURS, OUTEIGGESS, for crews not rowing in the Senior Eace on Thursday. Distance two miles Prize £ls. Star Boating Club (Stock’s crew) 1 Star Boating Club (Copeland’s crew) ... ■ ... 2 The Canterbury Rowing Club and the Union Rowing Club (Christchurch) also started. Stock’s crew rowed in a coxswainless boat and had the inshore position, the other Star crew being outside. A fair start w£is effected, and Stock’s crew immediately got a slight lead, bus here Hume, the bow oar, by some erratic steering, went off at right angles, and before the Unions had time to get out of the way there was a collision, the latter having their boat almost cut off their outrigger, and they swamped, the crew being picked up by the starter’s boat, and placed on board the yacht. The Canterbury crew also got mixed up in fouling, and the three boats were locked together. The second Star crew, which were on the outside, weis the only boat clear, but at once stopped to render assistance, but not so Stock’s crew, for no sooner were they clear than they started for the winning post, and as soon as the Unions were rescued the second Star crew followed. Stock’s rowed past the winning post several lengths ahead of Copeland’s who were followed a few minutes later by the Canterbury crew. Protests were, of course, entered against Stock’s crew, and the Committee at once disqualified them, and it was decided that the race should be rowed over again the second Star crew being scratched and the race left to the Canterbury and Union crews, both rowing in clinker outriggers, kindly lent by the Star Club. At dusk the Unions and Canterburys got away to an even start. The Unions assumed the lead at once, and rowing a strong, steady stroke, were never caught, and won easily by eight lengths. The Union, therefore, take the prize-money in this race. PAIB-OARED OUTRIGGERS. Best and best boats. Prize, £B. One mile and a hall. Star Boating: Club X Canterbury Bowing Club 2 Union Bowing Club, Christchurch S Blenheim Rowing Club also entered, but did not start, the stroke oar having met with a slight accident yesterday. From a good start the Stars, who had the inside position, got a slight lead, with the Canterbury next, the Unions, being slow to catch the water, last. Crossing Oriental Bay, the Stars increased their lead, and drew out a length from Canterbury, the Unions being four lengths to the bad. Passing the baths, the Stars had still a good lead, and rowed in the winners eight lengths away. Smith, the stroke of the second crew, was apparently exhausted. Previous to the race, the Star crew had to be changed, owing to the absence of the bow oar, Eind the crew, as re-arranged, capsized twice before they reached the starting point; but in the race rowed very nicely, and pulling in a coxswainless boat, had an advantage over the other two crews. DOUBLE SCULLS. Beat and best boats. One mile and a half. Prize, £B, Star Boating Club 1 Union Bowing Club (Christchurch) 2 Canterbury Bowing Club 3 Only three started. The Stars had the advantage in rowing in a coxswainless boat. This was a very poor race. The Stars led from the start to the finish, and won easily by a dozen lengths. For a mile the Union and the Canterbury had a good race for second place, but the Union’s gradually wore their brother crew down, and gained second position by a couple of lengths. SCULLING BACE. One mile and a half. Trophy and medal. Star Boating Club (W. Copeland) ... 1 Star Boating Club (J. £. Hume) 2 Union Bowing Club, Christchurch (P. Poster).., 3 H. S. Pollen and A. S. Biss, both of the Star Club, also sculled. J. D. Bax, of Blenheim Rowing Club, was not present. This race was rowed in the dark. Copeland got a slight advantage shortly lifter the start, and was never caught, winning by two lengths from Hume, Foster being a good third.
