ANOTHER EDUCATIONAL DIFFICULTY.

[By Telkobaph.] [from t)TXE OWN CORRESPONDENT.] AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. At a meeting of the Education Board this afternoon, the following letter was read from the Grafton road School Committee :—“ We, the undersigned members of the Grafton road School Committee, fully recognising the fact that the Board of Education persistently refuse to allow us to have any voice in the real management of the school, considering parentally, that our duties do not extend bey mid attending to the sweeping end ducting of the school buildings, av.i few other matters of a similar nature, desire t.o ho relieved of our duties. The Committee t, > >;ild have been willing to attend to these minor matters, U.\d tbeir opinion as to what wa,; for the real advantage of school mattesrs had any weight with the Boaru. The latest proof of tiic utter aicregard with which the lizard treat, the wishes of the Committee, is that relating ‘o the Chiistmasholid eye. h vtw rthstauding 1 hat every Committee »;/ any weight iu town joined our Committee ir. recommending that the unnecessarily long holidays might be shortened, the Board, in keeping; with its usual practice, paid no attention, to their wishes, or the wishes of the parents, of which the Committee were the exponents. It appears to us unfortunate that it should be so, as it may lay the character of some members of the Board under the imputation of being swayed by interested motives in the question, which may be thought to affect business considerations as between them and teachers. For these and other reasons, which could readily have been stated, we desire to be relieved of our duties as Committeemen, and now forward our resignations. (Signed) E. Hammond, C. A. Beale, Jaa. Buchanan, John Robertson, Wallace Good, Samuel Clarke, and Jas. Wm. Boone (Secretary).” On the motion of the Chairman the resignations were accepted, and it was resolved that steps he taken for the election of a fresh Committee on Dec. 20, when a meeting of householders would be called.
