FIRES.

♦ An alarm of fire was sounded about 9.20 last night, but the occasion was apparently nothing more serious than some burning gorse beyond the North Belt. Messrs Hibbs' premises at Methven, which were burned down recently, were insured for £IOOO in the Liverpool and London and" Globe office, and his stock for £450 in the South British office. Mr Webb's engine and combine, which were burned at Southbridge, were insured in the New Zealand office for £250.
