PARLIAMENTARY.
[Peb Pbess Association] HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Fkidat, July 30. The following is the conclusion of Friday evening's Bitting:— Mr Dodbon said he had voted with the Government because he believed the lines on the schedule were necessary. Mr J. M'Kbnzih defended the claims of Otago Central to consideration. Mr Hobbß deprecated raising the question of North and South. He compared the different votes, with especial reference to the lines northward of Auckland. Mr W. E. Buckland thought the experiment of ear-marking a'loan had met with dubious success. He was in favour of raising a new loan. He thought if the members would vote against it it would be only those whose districts had not got their share in it. His objection to the non-allo-cation of the £175,000 was that if the Company did not make the Midland Railway Government might have devoted it to that. With the general election coming on, too it. was dangerous to give Government a floating balance of such an amount. The motion that the amendments made in the Bill be agreed to, was then carried, and the House adjourned at 2.15 a.m. until Monday. ,
