It was resolved to thank the ■ Minister for the offer, and to reply at thesame time that he was misinformed as tothe gum fields giving a livelihood; It was • also resolved to urge the Minister of' . Lands to set apart special settlements along the line of railways .. made or contemplated, so that the unemployed might settle, and work partly, on the railways and partly on the * land. ■ At the close of the meeting, a procession . was formed, and proceeded to the ofiSoe of the Relieving Officer, who was requested totelegraphto the Government for relief.
