The cricket match between the Ans-• tralians and an English Eleven, which' was arranged to take place at Stoke yes- - terday, could not be commenced then, owing to the tain which fell throughoutthe day. Play, however, began this' morning, the weather being fine, and; there was a large attendance. The Australians, principally through the excellent i play of Giffen, Blackham, - and Bruce, ran up a score of 248 before the last wicket fell. Giffen contributed 53, Blackham 71,.
