FIRES.
LINCOLN. A most unaccountable fire occurred at half-past four on "Wednesday morning, ■when the slaughterhouse belonging to MrJ. Judge, butcher,, Lincoln, was totally destroyed. As the building was quite isolated, being situated in the centre of » large paddock, the origin of the fire is a mystery, especially as no one is known tohave been about the place since Monday last. The building was composed of wood, with concrete flooring, and was insured for.£4o in the South British office. [Pee Press Association.} NEW PLYMOUTH, Mat 19. Another fire occurred this morning at
1,30, the property destroyed being " Ferndell,” at the top of Cameron street, near the High School. It was a large house, and belonged to the late Mr Childman (formerly of the Customs here). It was unoccupied at the time, the late tenant having left last week. It is insured for £3OO in the New Zealand office. Incendiarism is suspected. 4 INVERCARGILL, Mat 19. The Havelock Hotel, Riverton, was burned down this morning. No cause has been assigned for the fire. The house was insured for J 2350, and th.o furniture for £175, in the Union office.
