The arrangements forthe evacuation of the British head-quarters at Dongola are now completed, and the first detachment of troops left to-day. [Received May 29, at I a.m. I OFFICIAL ADOPTION OP THE BRENNAN TORPEDO. LONDON, May 28. It is announced that the Admiralty has definitely adopted -the Brennan torpedo, which is the invention of an Australian engineer. COLONIAL DEFENCES. An important conference was held at the Admiralty yesterday between the Colonial Agents-General and Admiral Sir Cooper Key, Senior Naval Lord, on the subject of Colonial defences. The boundary of the English Protectorate in New Guinea, which was agreed upon by England and, Germany, has been cabled to the Australian Governors. TORPEDOES FOE THE COLONIES. The Admiralty will supply the Governments of New Zealand and New South Wales with ten torpedoes each, of German manufacture, immediately, and will also supply Adelaide, Victoria, and Tasmania with Whitehead torpedoes. Mr Thomas Woolner, R.A., the well-known sculptor, has completed busts of five English Premiers for the Sydney Art Gallery. COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. Adelaide wheat, ex store, 36‘s; New Zealand wheat, ex store, 30s to 36s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 275. i. Tallow. Australian fair average quality beef, 30s mutton, 325. Leather and hides are unaltered.
