At the Land Board meeting to-day Mr M'Kenzie moved—" That an enquiry be held as to whether the requirements of the Land Act in their, true intent and spirit are being evaded in the case of the Benmore Bun." He stated that previous to the purchase of the lease by Mr Begg, as attorney for Docherty, it was held by K. Campbell and Co., for whom Mr Begg was also agent, as Campbell and Co. were debarred from purchasing under the " M'Kenzie clause." It was bought by Mr Begg as attorney for Docherty, but the run is apparently being worked for Campbell and Co., and the sheep running are branded with their brand. The inference was that Docherty was their dummy. As the run forms part of the University endowment, the was deferred for a week to con-' suit solicitor. -
