The following was the Customs revenue collected yesterday:—Spirits, £228 3s ; wine, £11; beer, £l4 8s; cigars, £36 as 8d; tobacco, £7513a 9d ; tea, £53 6s 8d; sugar, £lßl Is 9d; goods by weight, £63 (hi 5d ; ad valorem, £355 10s; other duties, £2 11s; total, £IO2O 0s 3d. ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET, Mr E. G. Stavelbt (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on the Ashburton Live Stock Market, under date May 20 :—Sheep—Only a moderate number came forward, and there was a paucity of buyers, which, considering the inclement state of. the weather, is not to be wondered at. Very little enquiry was manifested, and business was limited at our quotations. Fat cross-bred ewes, 12s; merino wethers, 7s 3d; ewes, 4s 3d.; cross-bred lambs, 6s XOd, 8s 2d, audßsßd; aged merino ewes. Is 8d to 3s 3d; store cross-bred wethers, 12s 10d. Pigs Slips made 12s Cd. Cattle —Very few to hand, and for stores little or no demaud existed. Fat cows and heifers brought from £4 to £0; forward bullocks, £5 10s ; cows in milk, £5 each. Young stock were almost unsaleable.
