MR BRYCE'S LIBEL ACTION.

——* [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 21. The Hon Mr Bryce has received from Messrs Chambers and Hall, tho publishers of Rusdou’s History of New Zealand, a letter of apology, stating that all copies of tho hook will ho withdrawn from circulation until tho matter complained of is expunged or tho libel case goes in favour of Mr Rusdon. It was not Mr Bryce’s intention to proceed against the publishers, unless his agents, Messrs Paine and Co., London, thought it necessary for their client’s interest. Mr Bryce Ims also been advised that tho writ Ims been served on Mr Rusdon at Cannes, in Franco. The amount of damages is not known, as th« sum to ho fixed is left in tho hands of Messrs Paine and Co. No date is stated for the return of tho writ; but it is understood that if necessary Mr Bryce will go Home.
