The Union Steamship Company's steamer Worrarapa arrived from Melbourne wi Hobart and southern ports, yesterday morning, and left for Auckland and way ports in the afternoon. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Hsnroto left for Sydney and Wellington yesterday afternoon with a large cargo of produce. The ship Gareloch will land the first of her coal to-day. The barque Iris left Newcastle on Feb. 14 with a cargo of 600 tons coal consigned to Mr W. H, Hargreaves.

BAEQUE AUEIGA. The Auriga, a nice-looking iron barque, of 518 ■tons register, arrived in -Lyttelton early yesterday, after a good ran oat from Glasgow of 90 days. This vessel, which is commanded by Captain Stone, s.. not visited Lyttelton lor some years (about mine), but she has meanwhile visited various other ■ports in New Zealand. She arrives in good trim Mil clean order, no passengers being on board making thw an easy task, but she has a large cargo far Lyttelton and Oamaru, some large iron waterpipes in her hold being for the latter port. When she has put out her Lyttelton consignments of staff she will proceed to Oamaru to discharge, and load for the United Kingdom. The Auriga’s -voyage out bnv been a fine weather one till off the Hew Zealand east coast, when, during a fierce nor’westerly gale, the expedient of using an oil bag to prevent the seas breaking aboard was -tried with great success. Captain Stone reports of the passage: —: On Friday, Nov. 80, left tail of the bank, Glasgow, and towed to the Cumbrae Heads; got right away with A good north-west wind, followed by fair winds, which lasted to 40 north. Had easterly winds and north-east trades, and passed Cape de Verdes (San Antonio) on Dec. 15. Crossed the Lino on Dec. 26, in 28-30 west Took the south-east trades in 2 north; these were bat light throughout to 18 south, • where they gave oat. Light variables followed till picking up tie westerly winds off the Cape on Jan. tss, ia 45 south, 55 days out on a very fine weather voyage, Passed to the south of the Crosets, and passed Kerguelen’s Land on Jan. 5. Prom Kerguelen ran along the 50th parallel to 185, east; thence had strong westerly winds to sighting the Snares on Peh. 25. Three days previous to this had A heavy gale from north-west with mountainous sea and hurricane force of wind- Had to lay-to the ship for eight hours. North-west and northerly gates right up the coast to arrival. The vessel is consigned to Messrs Edwards, Dennett and Co.
