CRICKET CLUB MEETINGS.
s EANGIOHA. The annual general moating of the above Club was held at the Junction Hotel, Bangiora, on Monday night. Thera was a very fair attendonce of members, and in tho absence of tho President, Mr W. A. Burt, Vioo-Presi-dent, occupied the chair. Before the business commenced, tho Chairman remarked that as a new Club had just been started in tho !)laoe, the old one would hovo to look to its aurels. Ho had been very pleased to bear of the formation of tho Kiwi Club, and us a lover of cricket wished it every prosperity, hoping that many pleasant games would bo played between tho Clubs during tho season. The annual statement of accounts was then read by tho Treasurer (Mr U. R. Good) showing the receipts for tho year to have been £26 12s fid, and tho expenditure £2115* Id. It was stated that several members had not yet paid their subscriptions for the past season. On tho motion of Mr Buckham, seconded I by Mr 0. d’ Auvergne, the statement was * adopted. j Messrs Q. Hodgson, G. 1. Jennings, and F.'
Smith were proposed and elected members of the Club,
The appointment of officers for the year was then made as follows :—President, Mr W. Buss j Vice-President, Mr Q. Buckbam j Hou Seo and Treasurer, Mr S. B. Good j Captain, Mr C, d’Auvergne { Committee, Messrs W- A. Burt, 0. d’Auvergne, H. E. Goodeve, H. Onlliver, F. Hodgson, and 0.1. Jennings. A Ground Committee and one to select the teams wore also appointed. Mr Buckham said that he would gve one of the best bats procurable in Chmtounrch to the player who made the highest butting average in fire matches during the season. This offer was accepted with thanks. A letter was read from the Oddfellows’ and Druids’ Fete Committee requesting permission to use the cricket ground and pavilion for their sports on Oct. 17. The application waa granted. It was agreed to open th<f season with an All Comers’ game on Saturday next at 1 p.M., and to invite the members ef the Kiwi Club to take part. Mr 3. B. Good moved—“ That in the event of a player becoming a member of both tun local clubs, it ehould be understood that whichever clnb ha elected to play for at the first match between the two should be the one he would represent throughout the season.” This was seconded by Mr F. Hodgson and agreed to. A vote of thanks was then passed to the Chairman, and the meeting terminated.
