Explahatiok. This diagram shows the weather over temperate latitudes of Australia and New Zealand. The dotted lines or tsonAne connect equal readings of the barometer at 0 a.ra. on the above date, and thus indicate the general circulation of the atmosphere, the wind always following the lines, changing its direction as they change, and increasing in force according to (he •mount of difference of barometer which they express. The arrows fly with the wind, which always blows in a contrary direction to the movement of the bands of a dock round an area of high barometer, and with the clock hands round a low barometer or cyclonic area. Changes of weather chiefly arise from the eastward progress of these latter disturbances at a rate of 300 to 600 mUes in 24 hours. All local deflections of the xbobabo due to the shape of the land are omitted. LOCAL EEPOBT. The barometric readings of yesterday morning showed a general slight advance. Prevailing wind north-cast, with cloudy sky. Barometer at 9 p.m,, 80 40.
