Yesterday'» gale at Amjl.-o.tob brought forward a small entry of sheep, about 5W> only Wing penned, half of which were stores. Moat of the trade had stocked in heavily last week, and were only buyers on a small scale, eo that the limited supply woe quite sufficient to meet all requirements without su any way altering values. Biddings at the early part of the sale came more freely than at the close, hut, taken oa a whole, the sheep sale was a somewhat dragging affair. Shorn emus-hred wethers-heavy weights—brought Us to 13*. mixed weights and sexes, 9s to >o*Cd. A few prime merino wethers changed hands at (S», hut thi* U quite is per head above the price paid for average lots. In store sheep there is not quite- so much enquiry, the absence of ruin for some time part hiving cheeked the growth of feed on the dry lauds of the Province, The supply of fat lumhs was far in excess of what was wanted, and, os a natural consequence, lines that were not up to the mark were very difficult to quit, and several lots had to be Kent out unsold. Prices ruled from 6* to 7s Od for average quality, extra good to 9s; la fat cheep oar principal sales were •bom: 153 cross-bred wethers at 13», 50 mixed sexes at Vh 6d, 100 at 10» 3d. 121 at I 0», 164 at 10* 3d, ISO at 10s and 10s 3d; ISO merino wether* at 7s Sd, 65 do at Ba, 75 croes-hrod ewee at 1*» 3d. In fat cattle tho supply was smaller than usual, the result being that mno-tanth* of tho entry met n ready sale at firmly maintained rate*. Meaty weight steer* brought £9 10* to £10; mixed «**c« and light weights, i» to £7 10*. Tho store cattle market was again a heats one, and with the attendance of several outside buyers, there was scarcely o line that did not change owner*. Prices may Ims quoted as unaltered, three.year-old steer* being worth £5 to IXS; two-year-olds, £3 to £4; yearlings and upwards. Cl to £3 10s. For fat pigs them seems to be a sudden collapse in the trade, salesmen hating to submit to a decline of fully 4a per heed under last week’s rates to effect a clearance of yesterday'* small entry. Light, porkors and stoma am setting bettor in proportion than heavier weights, but values for oil classes are tort low.
